MODI ON RAM MANDIR BHOOMI POOJAN

Following the court order, the ‘Bhoomi Poojan’ for Ram Mandir was held on Wednesday, August 5th.  Though the festivities and religious ceremonies culminated in a grand way on Wednesday, still it got underway a day earlier when certain prominent guests including RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Baba Ramdev arrived in the holy city.

Around 175 guests who included: political leaders and priests gathered for the Bhoomi Poojan and strictly followed social distancing. A ceremony was held with grandeur at three sites; At the Hanuman Garhi temple, which PM Modi visited before he heads for the Ram janma bhoomi, a nishaan puja was held on Tuesday which was followed by a Ram archana at the site where Ram Lalla is lodged. A vastu and shila sanskar puja was also held at the Ram janmabhoomi.

Though, for this particular ceremony the barring restriction of 50 people at an event was relaxed so many could attend- as India continue with the upsurge of more than 50.000 corona positives cases taking its total to 19lakhs. Also, most of the guests were of more than 65years of age. The seats inside the venue were arranged at a distance of six feet, and dignitaries, including CM Adityanath and Pm Modi, could be seen wearing masks, and following the other measures necessary for containing the spread of Corona Virus.

However, just outside the venue, the people outside their homes and terraces were seen gathered in large numbers and some without masks neither following proper distancing measures. Also, the borders of the Ayodhya district were already sealed on Monday evening, with permission only being granted to media persons and the natives of the district.

Besides PM Modi, other guests who attended the ceremony were Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Iqbal Ansari (former litigant in Ayodhya land dispute case) and Yogi Adityanath. Also, Senior BJP Leaders L.K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi attended the ceremony virtually following the COVID safety protocols.
