A famous Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, who has been on a feud with the Maharashtra government over the past couple of weeks, has been granted the Y category security ahead of her Mumbai arrival by the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to the sources.
The actor Ms Ranaut is scheduled to arrive at Mumbai airport on September 9 amidst this ongoing conflict with the Maharashtra government, and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut.
According to the sources, the VIPs who avail the Y category security in India have a security team which comprises 11 personnel, including commandos. Thus, Kangana Ranaut will be provided with such security as per her conflict with the state government.
The actor has responded well on the decision taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs. She has thanked Amit Shah for the action taken. She said, “This is proof that no fascist forces will be able to suppress nationalist voices. I am indebted to Amit Shah, who could have also asked me to visit Mumbai later considering the present situation, but he honoured the words of a daughter of this country. Jai Hind.”
It all started when Kangana Ranaut a few weeks back compared Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), which ignited angry reactions from Maharashtra government and Shiv Sena leaders. Her reaction came when the Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut warned her against returning to Mumbai from her home state Himachal Pradesh.
However, the Himachal Pradesh government had complied to provide security to the actor and reportedly, also considering extending the security during her visit to Mumbai, the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur had announced on Sunday.
Meanwhile, two separate complaints have been lodged against the actor with Mumbai police over her remark where she compared Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. One complaint is filed by a city Congress functionary at Azad Maidan police station and the other one is lodged at the Andheri Police station on Friday.
