For the past few days, India has seen around 80, 000 COVID-19 positive cases but there was a slight decline in the daily numbers today. As on Tuesday morning around 69, 921 coronavirus cases were recorded which took the total COVID-19 tally to 36, 91,167.
The active coronavirus cases in the total tally of 36, 91,167 are 7, 85,996 and over 28, 39, 883 are cured and discharged. India also recorded 819 deaths which takes the fatalities in the country to 65,228.
The total number of samples which have been tested for COVID-19 so far up to August 31 are 4,33,24,834, including 10,16,920 samples tested on Monday informed the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Further, the national capital has recorded nearly 1.8lakh coronavirus cases while the death toll is over 4,400 so far. Also, the capital (Delhi) will initiate its third Sero survey from September 1mwhich would have a sample size of 17, 000 people. The second sero survey result that came in last month showed about 29% of the population in Delhi has developed coronavirus antibodies.
Meanwhile, the fourth phase of national unlock has initiated by the central government with some more relaxations being brought in the country. The Centre has allowed bars, restaurants to reopen from today onwards. Metro train services have also been allowed to resume from September 7.
However, schools, colleges and other educational institutions like coaching places would remain shut till September 30 th . Though, some relaxations have been given to class 9 and 12 students along with PhD scholars and students of the streams which require laboratories.
